My whole life, I have felt drawn to the ocean. It calms and humbles me daily. Moving to beautiful Byron from Melbourne was the best decision I ever made, and I try to spend time at the sea each day. When we did move, I was lucky enough to step into a community at the gym and through the school (and surfing families). This has saved me and makes me feel blessed each day, to share common values with others and lean on one another. Something I love about the shire is the entrepreneur Mummas that surf...its a wonderfully supportive community.
Each day I try to be active which makes me feel powerful in my body and mind. Training helps me swim in the ocean and surf its waves though we have discovered that surfing before CrossFit is much easier than surfing straight after.
My wish is for more babies to be born at home, the eradication of factory farming, and for humans to spend time connecting to nature and one another.
I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of humans and our Mother Earth. My children and I are vegan, we try to avoid plastic and the soft plastic we do pick up we recycle it at Woolies. We are a mostly screen free family and try to enjoy the beautiful outdoors as much as possible. My career as a doula allows me to educate families on the importance of birth for our babies and mothers, allows me to care for women in this transition and it is my belief that happy mothers raise happy children. Our Earth is hurting right now and I believe we have the power to create change on a personal and global scale. If everyone just became a little more environmentally conscious we could achieve great things.
It is my greatest achievement to raise my three children. And moving from Melbourne to Byron has been our biggest and best adventure yet!
A little bit more about me...
When I was two I started dancing and I have always had a passion for health without knowing how to create that in a sustainable way. I became a personal trainer straight out of school but it honestly took me until my first pregnancy to really take charge of my wellbeing. I was studying Exercise and Sport Science and training others when I found CrossFit. It was a game changer for me along with going vegan (I'd been a vegetarian since I was 10) and I completed my studies when my second child was 3months old. I had had an emergency caesarean with my first baby and was ecstatic to have a beautiful homebirth with my second child.
My hubs and I were running a CrossFit gym in Melbourne and I just kept dreaming of moving to Byron, we got hitched here after the birth of our last bub and finally we made the permanent move. I now own and operate CrossFit Byron Bay and manage that alongside my doula business. In 2021 all of my children will be at school and I'm looking forward to surfing more and cultivating a slower lifestyle.
